Originally a verb as well, 'hello', which along with 'holler' is a variant of the rare verb, 'hollo', and is related to the word 'holla' which comes from the French holĂ , meaning 'ho there', as an order to stop. This is by no means an exhaustive list of the words which are related etymologically to the greeting, 'hello', but of them, this does consider most with related means.
